The Festive Season (just over as I write this), could possibly have bought a lot of stress to some pets. A lot of them suffer from a condition called noise phobia. This is a fear of loud noises – such as thunderstorms, fireworks, etc.
Symptoms of this condition include:
- Excessive drooling
- Barking, howling
- Trying to hide or get into/out of the house, fence or other enclosure
- Refusing to eat
- Loss of bladder or bowel control or temporary diarrhea
Please don’t punish your dog or cat when this happens – they can’t control their response and they don’t deserve punishment. On the other hand, excessive attention can be just as bad. Firstly, it can signal to the dog that something really bad is happening. Or it could be interpreted as a reward for the fearful behaviour. Keep calm and relaxed and go about your daily business as usual.
There are drugs that can be given on days that storms are predicted or on known celebration days. These include Diazepam and Amitryptiline.
Of course, being me, I prefer to go the natural route. And that is why I invented Serenity Formula. I love this product.
And I truly believe that there are no other natural products as up to date scientifically as this one is. Even for humans.
Serenity Formula, however, is not a quick fix and needs to be given at least a week before the scheduled noisy event. And in thunderstorm season, its best to give on a daily basis.
