I’m a bit of a nerd and absolutely love science. I’m also an animal person. So starting a company making science backed health supplements for animals seemed like a really good idea. This is how The Herbal Horse and Pet was born.

One day, a few years later, I was idly scrolling through Twitter when I came across a tweet from Pick n Pay, advertising a competition to win space on Pick n Pay’s shelves. I love competitions, so immediately entered. After a long and quite rigorous process, we were ecstatic to be chosen as one of the 21 finalists.

After that, the hard work began until eventually, we were listed as a supplier to Pick n Pay and our Herbal Pet supplements were on the shelves! I am to this day thrilled and proud entering a Pick n Pay and seeing our products on the shelves.

But then it got even better. One day, in a meeting, my buyer Quinton asked us to invent a new range of products that they would launch under their own brand, Nutriphase. I got to work immediately and not long thereafter, Nutriphase supplements were launched. These include chewable tablets for allergies, joints, calming and ticks and fleas, as well as a natural tick and flea spray.

Pick n Pay are absolutely awesome when it comes to supporting small South African businesses like mine. They have a special SME group where they support us, answer silly questions and help solve our problems.

Pick n Pay changed my business for the better and I will never stop being grateful for that.
