01 · THE PROBLEM
Some of the true greats of horse sport have been mares. But, they have their days. This supplement is formulated to help mares be great, everyday.
02 · WHO IT'S FOR
mares who are moody at any point in their cycle
mares who show signs of seasonal discomfort
03 · THE FORMULATION
In this formulation, I have tried to address three things: mood, hormones and pain.
Vitamin D3 controls the Calcium balance in the blood. This is esssential for a stable mood.
In humans, Ginkgo biloba may help ease premenstrual syndrome (PMS) symptoms, including mood changes, pain, and water retention, by improving blood flow and reducing inflammation.
L-Tryptophan is the direct precuror to Serotonin in the brain. Serotonin is the "happiness" neurotransmitter.
Calcium can help reduce symptoms like mood swings, fatigue, and bloating by supporting hormone and neurotransmitter regulation.
Magnesium can help moody mares by supporting nerve function, easing muscle tightness, and reducing reactivity during hormonal cycles.
Brewer’s yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) is a yeast and is the source of various vitamins and minerals.
Dandelion is a gentle natural diuretic, helping to clear extra fluid and waste and supporting general comfort.
Many "moody" or "mare-ish" behaviors are actually reactions to underlying physical pain or low-grade discomfort during their cycles. Boswellia acts as a natural anti-inflammatory that soothes joint stiffness, muscle soreness, or general body aches.
Agnus castus has been found to support pituitary function and helps to balance reproductive hormones like oestrogen, progesterone, and luteinizing hormone.
Chia seeds do not directly balance equine hormones, but they provide magnesium, omega-3 fatty acids, and gut-soothing mucilage that can help calm general stress and ease physical discomfort linked to hormonal moodiness.
Vitamin B6 works alongside other nutrients to smooth out behavioral changes linked to the oestrous cycle.

05 · QUESTIONS
Mares are such individuals and their cycles too, can be highly specific. Know your mare and her cycle. Start with the supplement about 4 days prior to her particular moody point. And yes, in some mores, this means she will need to be on Mare mix permanently.

I own a mare that just turned 4 and came into heat properly for the first time and went from a very sweet loving girl to a girl that just wanted to fight and throw tantrums about everything. My instructor and stable manager suggested I put her on the mare mix to help her deal with the hormones. Within a week of being on the mix she was back to being her sweet cuddly self

Ingrid, I’m SO pleased to hear that. 🙂

I think Beryl developed this product after I moaned and moaned and moaned about my mare every time she came into season.
She is the 5th mare that I have owned, and has by far the worst case of PMS that I have come across!
The Mare mix (called Bitch mix in our circles 🙂 ) took the edge off and kept her far more functional through her season.
We can actually canter while in season these days!
So no more having to plan shows around when she is in heat!

i used this product on a very moody mare and within weeks this mare settled down and was not so moody, she was willing to work and listen to the rider where as before she was very moody and we could only work with her on her good day. i recommend this product to anyone that has to deal with a moody mare.
